Bible verses for when you feel loved
Feeling loved and being loved are not the same thing, and these verses are about the second — love that went first, that was not earned, that nothing separates you from. The prayers are written for the days the feeling is not there.
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.”Isaiah 43:4 · KJV
A prayer
God, thank you for calling me precious, not just tolerated. Help me actually believe that instead of assuming I have to earn it. Let that be true on the days I don't feel very honourable. Thank you for seeing me that way anyway. Amen.
All 10 verses for when you feel loved
The verse above rotates daily. Here is the whole set, each with its prayer.
-
“We love him, because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19 · KJVGod, thank you for loving me before I did anything to earn it. Let that be what I remember on the days I feel unlovable. Help me love the people around me the same way. Thank you for going first. Amen.
-
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 · KJVGod, thank you for loving the world enough to give your only Son. That love is big enough to include me too. I don't want to treat that as old news. Thank you for giving Jesus, not just feeling something toward us. Amen.
-
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 · KJVGod, thank you for loving me before I had it together, not after. Christ died for me while I was still a sinner, which means this love was never about me earning it. Let that settle something in me tonight. Thank you for going first, at the worst possible moment. Amen.
-
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 · KJVGod, thank you for the picture of you rejoicing over me, not just tolerating me. I don't often think of you singing over me, and I want to remember it tonight. Let that be true even on my ordinary, unremarkable days. Thank you for delighting in me. Amen.
-
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13 · KJVGod, thank you for Jesus, who loved all the way, not partway. Help me actually feel the weight of him laying down his life instead of just knowing the fact. I want to love the people around me with even a fraction of that kind of love. Thank you for showing me what it looks like. Amen.
-
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”
Romans 8:38 · KJVGod, thank you for a love that nothing on that whole list can touch. Let that be steadier than how I feel about myself some days. Nothing that happened today changes this. Thank you for the permanence of it. Amen.
-
“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”
1 John 4:16 · KJVGod, thank you for being love itself, not just someone who loves sometimes. Help me dwell in that instead of just visiting it occasionally. Let this be the place I live from, not just a nice feeling tonight. Thank you for being this constant. Amen.
-
“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
Jeremiah 31:3 · KJVGod, thank you for a love with no starting point I can find and no end I need to worry about. Let that be what draws me closer, not guilt or obligation. I want to come to you because I'm loved, not because I have to. Thank you for drawing me in gently. Amen.
-
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.”
Isaiah 43:4 · KJVGod, thank you for calling me precious, not just tolerated. Help me actually believe that instead of assuming I have to earn it. Let that be true on the days I don't feel very honourable. Thank you for seeing me that way anyway. Amen.
-
“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!”
Psalms 139:17 · KJVGod, thank you for thinking about me constantly, more than I can count. That's a strange, good thing to sit with tonight. Help me think about you that often too, not just when I need something. Thank you for the sheer volume of your attention toward me. Amen.
